The Year of the Snake, 2013, in the Chinese calendar, is symbolized by two elements – with water sitting on top of fire.

The ancient Chinese believe that having a Snake in the house is a good omen because it means the family will not starve.

 

The Snake is a powerful fire element, and it is also regarded as “Travelling star”.  As such, it may be a busy travelling year for many people and there will likely be more traffic accidents especially related to air and sea.  Snake also represents the prosperous stage in the growth of plants. So it is powerful fire energy and will trigger fire disasters, explosions and energy issues.
