Birthday Celebration of the Yang di Pertuan Agong
This is a public holiday observed to celebrate the birthday of Malaysia's King or the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. In reality, this may not be the actual birthday of the reigning king.
In Malaysia the King is appointed by the Council of Rulers (Sultans) from the 9 Sultans of the States, to serve a 5 year term. On this day, awards and honours are given by His Majesty to those who have contributed or serve the nation in various ways.
